Happy Birthday to our happy Abigail. She got breakfast in bed and open her presents. She got roller skates (just like her best friend Hannah) and monopoly. We then we packed up to go camping with the Barnhurst bunch for a family reunion. We ate at Chic-fi-la that night and everyone got a shake for her birthday "cake". We spent 2 nights at Douthat State Park, VA. On Saturday morning Abby was baptized in the lake. She loved it! The water was warm, the program very short, only surrounded by family. She asked Aunt Bonnie and Aunt Hollie to give the prayers, we sang the "rainbow" song and I did the baptism/holy ghost talk. Right after she was baptized she sat on a camping chair wrapped in towels and was given the gift of the Holy Ghost (by Dan with James, Cris, and Larry standing in.) For her baptism treat we decorated labels stating "It's Great to be Eight" and made a figure 8 out of powdered donuts for every person. Abby also wanted rootbeer so at 9a.m. we had rootbeer with our powdered donuts. I was worried that since it was so simple she wouldn't feel as special as we wanted her to but she loved it. Baptized in a lake! At the end of the day, as I was putting her to bed at home, she asked me if she had made any mistakes today or was she still clean? It was a great time for us to discuss repentance and the gift of a loving Savior Jesus Christ...even though she'd had a perfectly "clean" day!
