Kids Catch-Up

The last two month have been crazy. Busy with buying a home, moving, keeping up with soccer for Tess,  Piano for Jake, school ending for Jacob, Tess and Abby, as well as the usual food, cleaning, laundry and baby Clara. We have all felt a little out of whack.

Tess has just finished her first season of soccer. She was the only girl on her team and learned a lot. Steve Kirkham took coaching very seriously and had the kids practicing twice a week for about and hour and a half rain or shine.

Tess has such a tender heart. She came home from school one day and told me that a girl in her class was crying at lunch time because the boys at the table said she was sitting at the "boys" table. The lunch room lady asked if anyone from Tess's table would trade places with the crying girl to make her feel better. Tess volunteered. Love her.

Tess' first Field Day

Benjamin was her field day partner. They've loved being in the same class together and have really helped each other adjust to change throughout the year!

The last Friday of school was the last Eagle's Nest store. Jake and Tess saved up lots of gotcha tickets for this special last day. After school on Friday Jake showed me his loot. Tess excitedly told me she used her 75 tickets to earn 30 minutes volunteering in another class as a teachers helper. She was going to Jake's class and was so excited. What a sweet heart.

Jake's had a big project at school involving a craft made at home. He and I worked hard on a catapillar with all of its many parts. He got a perfect grade on his craft, report and presentation. Jake also had his first piano recital. He was so nervous but did a great job. When he sat down next to me I asked him how he felt, he replied "That was fun!" I hope it stays that way.  The week after school ended for the Summer Jake went to Cub Scout Day Camp for a week. He loved every minute of it!

Jake and his teacher Melissa Howell.

Abby finished up her first year of preschool. I love all the women at DCP and they loved having Abby there.  (Mrs. Patris, her teacher, is good friends with the principal at Kemptown Elementary school. YEA!) Her poster said: Pure Sunshine and Sweetheart... Tea Party Anyone!

We've had lots of late nights, too many actually. Most days the moment we get in the car Abby does this:

The girls had fun at the Daddy Daughter Camp Out May 10th at the Bishop's Mountainside. I received a text from one of the dads in our ward that said "Stand up night with Abby". The picture was of Abby and her friend Rachel in front of everyone. Rachel was whispering jokes in Abby's ear who was then telling them to everyone. They were the stars of the night. Abby is such a people person and talks to anyone and everyone.

Funny Abby Moments:
1. At our last pack meeting Abby was playing with a friend who wasn't being very kind. When we got home we talked about it a bit. Dan helped Abby with her personal prayer before bed and whispered "Please help me to be nice to _____" to which Abby sternly replied in her prayer, "NO, Please help _____to be nice to me!!!"

2. Abby was trying to tell me something, but I was busy doing something so she put her hands on her hips and said, "FOCUS MOM FOCUS"!

3. Abby uses the word "Guacamolie" when she's amazed at something...don't know where she picked that up but it makes me laugh every time.

4. Clara woke from a nap. I comented that she took such a good nap. To which Abby congratulated her on being such a good "Nappy-head".

5. While I was at the new house painting trim Abby went out back to play. I watched her as she went out and suddenly became hysterical running back in to me. A butterfly was "chasing" her. There are too many bugs for her to go out on her own. We will be correcting this.

6. Abby loves to sing and has natural musical talent. She loves listening to music and dancing with me. One night Dan was listening to a song on the computer with Abby. (Not sure what the song was) The singer kept saying "Why won't you love me". When the song ended the other kids and Dan walked out of the room. As Dan was leaving he heard Abby kindly tell the computer, "I love You".
